Can I choose the hardware? What is your coding setup (IDE, OS, Build server, Cloud provider)?
Yes, within limits. Developers use MacBook Pros or Linux Laptops. Most developers use PHP Storm or IntelliJ, but you are free to use what makes you the most productive.
We focus is on building and using efficient tooling in our dev environment: get up and running in minutes. Just pull the code and run docker-compose up.
We also focus on getting our code to production quickly and safely using a CI / CD pipeline with Github Actions and AWS.

Use existing frameworks. We want to build the best product, not the best framework.

If you do Agile - how is your agile process & release cycle? How much coding vs meetings/planning?
We work in an agile way (several deployments per day, focus on getting stuff in front of customers quickly) but use none of the common agile practices. We keep meetings to a minimum and emphasize direct collaboration across teams instead.
💼 How does the interview process at Lunchgate look like?
We typically interview in three steps:
- Initial Interview - 30' over Google Meet or the phone to learn more about a candidate's background and goals and to present ourselves
- Technical Interview - 60' coding challenge over Google meet or in our offices
- Large interview round - roughly 4 hours with interviews with members from several teams (customer support, managing partners, software engineers, ..)
