Our software development process

How can I grow as a developer at your company (career paths and learning opportunities)?

At Switch, employee development is an integral part of our processes. At least once a year – or more frequently, depending on individual needs – supervisors hold development discussions with their team members. These conversations focus on personal growth, the current career level, and potential next steps.

Our own career model provides a clear development path: It starts at the Junior level and progresses through Professional to Senior. Beyond that, employees have various specialization opportunities. They can advance into an expert role, choosing between "Expert" and "Expert Lead," or move into agile leadership positions, such as Agile Coach or Product Owner. This allows for diverse career development options tailored to individual interests and strengths.

👩‍💻 Company culture

What are your key values and what are some daily work examples of them?

Our key values include sharing knowledge, helpfulness, and collaboration, as well as meaningful work. For example, team members share their knowledge and support each other within the company, which promotes collaboration. They work across departments to solve complex problems, contribute to meaningful projects, and ensure systems run smoothly for clients every day.

How diverse are your teams? What is the typical team size and structure?

Our teams are diverse in background, expertise, and perspectives, fostering an inclusive environment. We follow a circle organization model, where teams include an Agile Coach, a Product Owner, and respective circle members, all working together within agile methodologies.

Do you offer any helpful initiatives for parents with young children?

We offer flexible working hours, remote work options, and support part-time working arrangements. In addition, we provide a family allowance on top of the child allowance granted by the cantons.

What is your remote work policy?

We support a flexible work model, allowing employees to work from home, in the office, or from other locations within Switzerland, with the option to work abroad for a limited period. While there are no fixed on-site days, employees are required to attend in person if an on-site meeting is scheduled. Additionally, no one is allowed to have a designated home office day each week. Teams and circles are encouraged to organize their work arrangements based on their needs.
