How would you explain smart-me to your friend in 3 sentences?
smart-me is a company of 27 employees (February 2024) and slowly growing and gaining recognition in the energy branch. Our team is very young and uncomplicated. We like to finish a good work day with a cold beer or some non-alcoholic beverage, during a table soccer or pingpong match.

We grow our coding skills together, and you can take responsibility as a Feature Lead of small and bigger Features.
Do you prefer always writing your own software for everything or use frameworks if they fit?
We like to buy stuff if someone has done a good job, so that we can focus on our core business.

How diverse are your teams? What is the typical team size and structure?
We have developers from 4 countries and you’re welcome to add to the mix.
Do you offer any helpful initiatives for parents with young children?
We’re quite flexible regarding working schedules. We do not offer any child care in the company but there are a lot of opportunities around our office.
What is your remote work policy?
You can work 40% of your working hours at the office and 60% you should be in the office. It is possible to reschedule flexible.
If you do Agile - how is your agile process & release cycle? How much coding vs meetings/planning?
Per week, we have a total of 2 hours and 15 Minutes of “ceremony” (daily, planning, retro). We release multiple times a week, no schedule. We’re striving for the feature lead/care taker model. Agile, but no complicated process to follow.
Do you have some in-house tech workshops or hackathons? Is there an educational budget?
We constantly try new things, learn from each other and discuss solutions and designs.Tech workshops or Coding-Dojos happen, but rarely. You’re welcome to get us hooked, though!
The education budget is individual and we are always happy to give money for education, if it is job related.
Can I work on my projects or open source for a part of time?
20% of your time can be spent on projects outside of your daily work - but must profit the company in some manner as well.
What do I need to do to buy a 50$ educational book on company expense?
Ask the Team-Responsible for it. He’ll probably say “send me a link and I’ll order it for you”. Optionally, you can also do this while drinking (company provided) coffee, tea, beer, ...
