How would you explain Consulteer to your friend in 3 sentences?
Consulteer is the sweet spot between design, consulting, software development, and cyber security. Our mission is to bridge the gap between human needs and technology by creating solutions that improve people’s everyday lives.
Technologies that we use
Can I choose the hardware? What is your coding setup (IDE, OS, Build server, Cloud provider)?
Absolutely! You’re free to choose the hardware that suits you - Mac, Windows, or Linux.
Same goes for your IDE, build tools, and cloud provider. Whether you’re working in frontend (React, Angular, Vue), backend (Node.js, .NET, Java, Python), or full stack, we support a wide range of technologies.
That being said, client requirements sometimes define parts of the tech stack - especially in regulated industries. Within those boundaries, we offer as much developer autonomy as possible, so you can work in the environment where you’re most productive.
Our software development process
How can I grow as a developer at your company (career paths and learning opportunities)?
Junior → Professional → Senior → Expert → Senior Expert or Leadership
At Consulteer our HR Department is continuously working on talent management, our employee life cycle and all aspects to your personal development within our company!
We also support your growth with:
· A personal educational budget for books, certifications, and conferences
· Regular internal training sessions (e.g. UXQB, SAFe, Hermes)
· “Brain Food” sessions – fun lunch talks where teammates share ideas and tech insights
Just need a book or resource? Talk to your manager - if it helps you grow, we’ll cover it.
Do you prefer always writing your own software for everything or use frameworks if they fit?
We’re pragmatic. If a framework or library fits the job, we’ll use it. If not, we’ll build our own solution. It's about choosing what’s effective, not reinventing the wheel.
What are your key values and what are some daily work examples of them?
All for One - We support each other and grow together.
Accountability & Growth - Mistakes happen. What matters is how we respond.
We Care & Grow. Together. - We want everyone to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
How diverse are your teams? What is the typical team size and structure?
Our teams typically range from 3 to 8 people, depending on project needs. We operate in two core models:
· Managed Agile Teams - Full delivery teams (e.g. 6–8 people) including developers, designers, QA, and Scrum Masters
· Extended Support Models - 1–3 of our experts join the client’s team to boost delivery and share knowledge
Our teams are cross-functional, international, and flexible, adapting to the project and client context.
Diversity is important to us and we are very proud that we have diverse team, especially in business areas such as defense, where most companies lack to have diverse teams
Do you offer any helpful initiatives for parents with young children?
Yes. You can work whenever and wherever it fits your life best. Office presence is optional - we’re fully supportive of remote and family-friendly flexibility.
What is your remote work policy?
Honestly just work from where you are most comfortable, taking into account the needs of our client and project.
If you do Agile - how is your agile process & release cycle? How much coding vs meetings/planning?
It depends on the client and industry:
· Hermes (Waterfall) - mostly used for Swiss federal projects
· Scrum or SAFe - common in international and agile-driven projects
We aim for a healthy balance of planning and coding - with a focus on productivity, not meetings.
Do you have some in-house tech workshops or hackathons? Is there an educational budget?
Yes! We run regular in-house trainings to help team members prepare for certifications and explore new topics. There’s also an educational budget for tech fairs, books, and learning materials.
Can I work on my projects or open source for a part of time?
While our primary focus is on delivering high-quality solutions for our clients, we always encourage our developers to bring in their own ideas, explore new technologies, and contribute to innovation. There is room to get involved in side initiatives, develop tools or concepts that support our mission, and eve suggest open source contributions - especially when they align with our tech stack or future vision. We are all about staying curious, versatile and collaborative.
What do I need to do to buy a 50$ educational book on company expense?
If you need something that helps you do your job better, just chat with your manager. If it makes sense, we’ll cover it.
1. Intro chat via MS Teams - a friendly first conversation
2. On-site meeting - meet the team and get a feel for the culture
There are no hard deadlines - we take the time to find the right person, not just the next hire. If it’s a good fit, we’re happy to wait. Cultural alignment is just as important as skills - so bring your personality and values with you.
