How diverse are your teams? What is the typical team size and structure?

Our teams exemplify diversity, combining talents across Switzerland and abroad, with a total workforce of approximately 15-18 in Switzerland and 10 internationally. We operate within three agile teams, each led by a dedicated Product Owner/Scrum Master (PO/SM) who orchestrates tasks in collaboration with team members, steering customer projects to success.

In each team, the structure is designed to foster close collaboration and agility, ensuring a seamless workflow and a dynamic approach to project management. The management team is actively involved in projects to varying degrees, facilitating exchange and maintaining flat hierarchies. This integration not only promotes transparency and efficiency but also reinforces our commitment to open communication and collective problem-solving.

Do you offer any helpful initiatives for parents with young children?

We are committed to supporting our employees through significant life events, adhering to the standards of Swiss law. Our policy provides 10 days of paternity leave and 14 weeks of maternity leave, ensuring new parents can spend valuable time with their newborns. Recognizing the need for flexibility, we also offer the option to extend paternity/maternity leave through unpaid leave or part-time employment arrangements. Additionally, in the event of a child's illness, we provide 3 days of leave per illness, allowing parents to care for their children without the worry of work commitments. This approach underscores our commitment to the well-being of our employees and their families.

What is your remote work policy?

Our remote work policy is all about embracing flexibility with open arms, giving our employees the freedom to work from wherever they feel most inspired and productive. While there are moments when our clients might need us on-site, we're proud to say that for the lion's share of our projects, the choice of workspace is yours to make. And for those days when you're craving some team vibes or just a change of scenery, our vibrant copebit office at Sihlquai 125 in Zurich is always ready to welcome you. It's the perfect spot to meet fellow copebiters and spark collaboration in a lively and engaging environment. Our approach is designed to blend professional needs with your personal life seamlessly, nurturing a culture that's as dynamic and adaptable as you are.

If you do Agile - how is your agile process & release cycle? How much coding vs meetings/planning?

In the fast-paced world of tech, our agile ethos is all about striking the perfect balance:

  • Lean & Agile: We keep meetings minimal, focusing instead on crucial planning and customer-centric actions. It's all about delivering value while staying flexible.
  • SCRUM Framework: Our rhythm is set to 4-week sprints, but we're agile enough to shift to 2-week sprints when it benefits development, ensuring we're always moving at the right pace.
  • Coding vs. Meetings: With bi-weekly standups and weekly planning, the bulk of our time is invested in coding and hands-on work, directly fueling project success.

Beyond the sprints and code, we also embrace moments to step back and look at the bigger picture:

  • Annual Strategy Workshop: A 2-day off-site gathering for the whole team, where we brainstorm and align our collective vision.
  • AWS Cloud Day: Our yearly celebration of cloud innovation, diving into the latest AWS trends and fostering a sense of community.

These practices ensure we remain focused, productive, and continuously evolving, always aiming to deliver exceptional value to our customers and maintain a vibrant, inclusive culture.

Do you have some in-house tech workshops or hackathons? Is there an educational budget?

Absolutely! At the core of our culture is a deep commitment to continuous learning and innovation. Here's how we bring this vision to life:

  • Monthly Tech Talks: We host engaging tech talks every month, where team members have the opportunity to both share and absorb knowledge on cutting-edge technical topics. This initiative fosters a vibrant exchange of ideas, keeping us all at the forefront of technological advancements.
  • Emphasis on Education: Education is a cornerstone of our ethos. We actively encourage our team to engage in ongoing self-improvement, ensuring they remain ahead of industry trends and developments.
  • Training Resources: Supporting our dedication to education, we provide our team with access to internal training accounts on platforms like A Cloud Guru, along with other web, security, and specialized trainings. This ensures that everyone has the tools they need to deepen their expertise and advance their skills.

This comprehensive framework not only cultivates a dynamic learning environment but also guarantees that our team stays cutting-edge, equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.

Can I work on my projects or open source for a part of time?

Certainly! We are open to our team members dedicating a portion of their time to personal projects or contributing to open source, especially if these initiatives align with copebit's strategic goals and can be leveraged within our own operations. This approach allows us to support individual growth and innovation, fostering a culture where creativity and strategic alignment go hand in hand.

At copebit, we approach our interview process with a keen eye for detail and a strong emphasis on fit—both skill-wise and culturally. Here's a breakdown of how it unfolds:

  • Application Review: Every application receives thorough attention. If we see potential for a great fit, we'll reach out for an initial interview.
  • Interview Rounds: Candidates typically undergo multiple interviews. These sessions vary in focus—some hone in on technical skills, while others explore interpersonal dynamics. The variety ensures a holistic view of each candidate.
  • Team Decision: The final say comes from the team. We firmly believe in giving our future colleagues a voice in choosing their new teammates, ensuring a harmonious integration.
  • Timely Process: Our goal is to wrap up the entire process, from first contact to contract signing, within 3 weeks. Parallelly, we discuss contract details and financial terms to ensure clarity and mutual satisfaction on all fronts.

This approach reflects our commitment to ensuring a perfect match, not just in skills but in the shared values and vision that define our company's DNA.
