How would you explain emineo to your friend in 3 sentences?
We are a Swiss based software-development and -consulting company with a 20-year history both in opensource and SAP technology. We aim to find (technical) solutions to every (complex) challenge our customers face.

How can I grow as a developer at your company (career paths and learning opportunities)?
As an interested developer you have a broad variety of possibilities inside emineo. We basically have a classical structure along your maturity. You start as a “junior” developer and go on with “professional”, “senior” and finally “principal”. In addition, you can take over additional responsibility as team-coach for other colleagues. In terms of technology emineo has a broad set-up of modern technology. This is of course subject to change depending on customer situation or market development in different areas (front-end, back-end, integration, database, testing etc.)
Additionally, there are a number of formats to bring people forward in their career; be it through internal education (ex. brown-bag-session) or external events, trainings etc.
Do you prefer always writing your own software for everything or use frameworks if they fit?
At emineo the customer and its demand stand in the center of all considerations. If we have existing solutions or frames that we can re-use if of course try to use what we have – and use our expertise/energy for additional functions and features that might solve the customer pain.
What are your key values and what are some daily work examples of them?
In general, emineo is a market-oriented, dynamic and fastly growing swiss-company working in several key industries (ex. public sector, insurance, hospitals etc.). Our 20-year history is based on a strong culture. Our code-of-conduct is consisting of 6 values - positive, excellent, respectful, pragmatic, responsible, collaborative.
As a project-member you work in different teams on different tasks. Therefore, you must be flexible in working with different characters with different backgrounds and experiences. Our values are the joint language we try to exercise to walk with the same passion into the same direction and deliver great projects.
How diverse are your teams? What is the typical team size and structure?
We are happy about a broad diversity in our workforce. What everybody unites is the passion for technology and the ambition to solve complex problems. Else we don’t care how old you are, what nation you are from, in what god you believe or who you love. In general our teams consist of 4 to 7 experts.
Do you offer any helpful initiatives for parents with young children?
emineo offers a flexible set-up in terms of home-office, part-time etc. Given the normal project-cycles with deadlines and sometimes activities on short notice, emineo can offer a healthy work-life-balance. There are no given duties over weekends etc.
What is your remote work policy?
We consider ourselves a very customer-oriented company. Therefore, the project and its success are in the center of our daily considerations. This means that if the customer or the project-lead require physical attendance we follow that demand. Otherwise, all roles are highly flexible in terms of home office. Apart from peaks given by the project (milestones, go-live etc.) developer can work in average 3 days at home. To maintain our unique culture, we are happy if people come to the office more often or join our various leisure activities.
If you do Agile - how is your agile process & release cycle? How much coding vs meetings/planning?
This is always based on the discussion with our customers. It very much depends on the project-set-up, the given parameters etc. We don’t have a given frame.
Do you have some in-house tech workshops or hackathons? Is there an educational budget?
We have several educational elements. This can be brown bags over lunch, internal/external workshops. All this is managed via several center-of-excellent (CoE). They make sure we have the right skills ready to serve the project. As in every dynamic company we have a specific education budget.
Can I work on my projects or open source for a part of time?
This is not foreseen – our projects are highly ambitious. There is no specific time-budget for personal development projects. However, there are always possibilities when working in a CoE (see above) to evaluate new technology or software in order to improve our development cycles.
What do I need to do to buy a 50$ educational book on company expense?
emineo offers their employees a great deal of flexibly and freedom. Furthermore, we are highly digital. If an expert needs 50$ for education purpose – he buys the book and put it on expense. Pragmatic!
