Exigences
Obligatoire:
- Degree in computer science or comparable background
- Relevant work experience in application development, ideally in a research environment
- Practical experience in developing and maintaining web applications
- Comfortable with frontend and backend technologies (HTML/CSS/JS, PHP-based and Python-based frameworks)
- Experienced in managing and presenting digital content
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of German is an asset
Responsabilités
- Manage the TYPO3-powered Biozentrum website, handling content and technical updates (microsites, new content sections, formats)
- Develop and maintain internal web applications (Python/Django, PHP/Laminas) to support research, teaching, and administrative processes; familiarity with front-end JavaScript development is highly desired
- Create new tools for data visualization and analysis for the global scientific community
- Continuously advance the website and tools in coordination with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, and provide training and support for content editors

The Biozentrum of the University of Basel is one of the leading life sciences institutes in the world, consisting of 32 groups and 500 employees researching the creation of life from molecules to cells. Founded in 1971, it has been the birthplace of many fundamental discoveries in biology and medicine, including several Nobel Laureates. We are looking for a motivated individual to join the Biozentrum community, shaping its digital presence and building innovative web applications for research, teaching, and administration. This position is initially for 2 years, with the possibility of extension after review. Salary and benefits are according to University of Basel standards.
