How diverse are your teams? What is the typical team size and structure?
The teams are very diverse and cross-locational. Whether from Karlsruhe, Munich, Zurich, Bern or Wroclaw - or even development teams on the customer side. With us, you definitely get to know diversity and working "outside the box". Depending on the customer, the team size is different. But on average there are 7 people from Unic.
A team consists of a Project Manager, a Scrum Master (agile touch), an Application Engineer, a Requirements Engineer, a Test Manager and an UX Designer. But always depending on the project.
Do you offer any helpful initiatives for parents with young children?
We love families and are always happy to welcome new "little" family members. Moms and dads can initially work flexibly with the work-life balance promoted by Unic. There's always an earlier daycare pickup here or a doctor's appointment with the kids there. The entire team understands this. It's also no problem to take e.g. two months of unpaid leave for a longer family break. The workload can be adjusted individually on a full-time or part-time basis - depending on the family situation. Whether the work is done on site in the office or remotely is up to the individual.
What is your remote work policy?
Whether remote or on-site in the office is up to the individual person. Remote work throughout Germany or Switzerland is possible for us and is also something very established. However, we also love it when we see each other as a team in the office, drink a coffee or two and go to the currywurst stand.
Do you have some in-house tech workshops or hackathons? Is there an educational budget?
We are convinced: Sharing promotes innovation and networking. We are actively committed to sharing know-how and offer a wide range of learning and teaching venues to learn, pass on and enrich knowledge. Internally, we always offer workshops or Lunch2Learns on various topics. There are also Communities of Practise (CoP) in various areas: United in their interest in solutions, best practices and know-how building, the members act largely self-organized, exchange ideas and support each other. The CoP builds its expertise through interaction and drives the discipline within Unic.
Dedicated continuing education budgets exist, of course. Together with the specialist supervision, the individual wishes and goals are discussed with the person him/herself on an annual basis. A time as well as financial budget is available for continuous professional development.
What do I need to do to buy a 50$ educational book on company expense?
In addition to the physical library in Zurich with a large collection of literature on all disciplines, there is also a digital library that is available to everyone.
If your literature is not available, simply create a ticket in our Jira ticket system to our great Office Management and you will get the book ordered and delivered asap.
